Weber State Plans World-Record Groundbreaking Event For New Athletic Complex

OGDEN, Utah-Saturday, Weber State University hopes to have a world-record groundbreaking ceremony for the new athletic complex at Stewart Stadium by asking every fan at the season-opening football game to participate.

Each fan entering the stadium for the game against South Dakota will have the opportunity to turn some dirt to celebrate the beginning of the construction for the new complex to be located at the north of the stadium.

Gates are to open at 4:30 p.m. with the official groundbreaking ceremony to commence at 5:00 p.m.

Everyone who enters the stadium will get a chance to dig some dirt.

Upon its completion, the facility will include a new plaza, ticket office and a souvenir shop.

It will also serve as the main entrance to the stadium.

The building will also feature a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility for all Wildcat student-athletes.

The complex will also feature new locker rooms, an equipment room, meeting room and coaches’ offices for the football team.
