Weber State Men’s Basketball Begins Season At San Diego Tuesday

SAN DIEGO-Tuesday, Weber State men’s basketball commences its 57th season at the Division I level by visiting West Coast Conference foe San Diego.

The Wildcats are coming off a 20-11 season, including a 13-6 mark in Big Sky Conference play. 2017-18 was the Wildcats’ third consecutive 20-win season.

The Wildcats will be led by junior guard Jerrick Harding, a preseason all-Big Sky Conference first team member.

Harding, a native of Wichita, Kan. averaged 22 points a game last season and had a 46-point performance in a 95-92 overtime win at Montana State last March 3.

The Toreros will be led by new head coach Sam Scholl who was hired last April 2.

This is the fifth game between the schools in history with the Wildcats leading the series 4-1.

This also commemorates the first game at San Diego in the series since 1992.

The Toreros’ leading returner is redshirt senior forward Isaiah Pineiro who averaged 15.7 points, and 6.2 rebounds per game last season while amassing 27 blocks for a 20-14 squad.
