UVU Basketball Names New Strength and Conditioning Coach

OREM, Utah-Friday, Utah Valley University men’s basketball coach Mark Pope announced the hiring of Charles Young  as the team’s new strength and conditioning coach.

Young replaces Randy Towner, who recently accepted a position at the University of Alabama Birmingham.

For the Wolverines, Young will oversee strength, conditioning and nutrition of student-athletes on the men’s basketball team.

Young comes to Orem from the University of Michigan where he assisted the Michigan Wolverines’ basketball and golf programs as a strength and conditioning coach intern.

Prior to his appointment at Ann Arbor, Mich., he worked with the University of Illinois football team at Champaign, Ill. and at the Lake Forest College athletic department of Lake Forest, Ill.

Young is a 2015 graduate of Western Michigan, earning a degree in exercise science. He will receive his Master’s degree in Kinesiology from A.T. Still University this fall.
