Utah Football Shows Spirit For Day 2 of Camp Kyle

SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, as the University of Utah football team engaged in Day 2 of Camp Kyle, it was another hot and smoky day in Salt Lake City. In turn, the Utes were firing on all cylinders.

The Utes got down to basics as the offense went against the defense and punt and kick returns and schemes and individual position breakdown groups were underway as well.

Strong performances came from QB Tyler Huntley, a junior out of Dania, Fla. and receiver Siaosi Mariner, a big-bodied 6’2″ junior out of Tustin, Calif. as they connected for multiple first downs.

Additionally, junior cornerback Julian Blackmon of Layton, Utah, junior cornerback Josh Nurse of Fayetteville, Ga. and sophomore safety Vonte Davis of Rosenberg, Texas, all had shining moments in the secondary.

Fellow defensive back Tre’ Strong also excelled against the deep ball during Thursday practices.

Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham suggested that Friday will be a heavy day and then the coaches will back off again. He cited the sports metaphor that this is a marathon and not a sprint as well, stressing he doesn’t want his players to get exhausted before the regular season during August camp.
