Utah Football Faces Colorado Saturday; Pac-12 SouthTitle Hopes Still Alive

BOULDER, Colo.-Saturday, Utah football, fresh off of a 32-25 win over Oregon, is still alive for a Pac-12 South title as they face the Colorado Buffaloes at Folsom Field for an 11:30 am kickoff.

At 5-3 in Pac-12 play, the Utes are currently in the lead in the Pac-12 South. In order to secure the divisional title, they must beat the Buffaloes and hope for Arizona State to lose to either Oregon or Arizona in the next two weeks.

The Utes’ win over the Ducks last Saturday is all the more impressive when one considers that leading up to that game, they learned they would be without their starting quarterback in Tyler Huntley and their starting tailback in Zack Moss.

However, respective understudies Jason Shelley (18 of 31, 262 yards) and Armand Shyne (26 car, 175 yards) admirably filled in for the Utes.

The Buffaloes are led by quarterback Steven Montez (229-344 [66.6 completion percentage], 2,595 yards, 17 TD’s/5 INT’s), tailback Travon McMillian (167 car, 910 yards, 6 TD’s) and receiver Laviska Shenault (70 rec, 882 yards, 6 TD’s).

The Buffaloes lead the all-time series 32-29-3 but the Utes have won five out of the last six in the series and are 5-2 in the series as a fellow Pac-12 foe to Colorado.
