Utah Baseball Drops Series Finale at Arizona

TUCSON – Utah dropped its series finale against Arizona on the road in Hi Corbett Field on Sunday, March 17. The Wildcats had three innings where they scored five runs leading to the 18-7 defeat.

Oliver Dunn went 2-5 with two doubles. Erick Migueles also went 2-5 and knocked in three RBI with a three-run homer.

Utah got off to a great start scoring three runs in the first on a Migueles three-run homer, but Arizona came right back to score two of their own in the bottom half.

The Wildcats then came right back in the second and scored five more to take a 7-3 lead.

The Utes got that lead down to one run scoring one in the fourth and two in the fifth, but Arizona scored five more runs in the bottom of the fifth to stretch out their lead once again.

The deficit from there was too much to overcome as Utah would push one more run across the plate, but Arizona went on to get the series win on the opening weekend of Pac-12 play.

Joshua Tedeschi took his first loss of the season on the mound.

The Utes totaled 10 hits scoring seven runs in the game. The loss drops them to 7-8 on the season and 1-2 in the Pac-12.

Utah has one more game in Arizona against Grand Canyon on Monday, March 18 at 3 p.m.
