Two SLCC Softball Standouts To Continue Collegiate Careers at Regis University

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Per Friday information from the SLCC athletic department, two former Bruins softball standouts will continue their collegiate careers at Division II Regis University of Denver.

Pitcher Harley Wells and outfielder Kyrna Nelson have committed to suit up for the Rangers next season, members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Therefore, they will return to Utah plenty of times in their careers as Dixie State joins the RMAC as of July 1.

Wells and Nelson were each key components of the Bruins’ 41-14 season in 2018.

Wells was the ace in the circle for SLCC, posting a team-best 17 wins, and also led the team in ERA for starters (3.37), strikeouts (70), and innings pitched (108).

Wells also excelled offensively, batting .531 in 22 games, netting five home runs and 24 RBI.

Nelson proved to be durable for the Bruins, playing in 54 of a possible 55 games in 2018, while batting .338 and posting 30 RBI.

They are joining a Rangers squad that went 38-19 and 30-10 in RMAC play in 2018.
