SUU Men’s Basketball Returns To Road Thursday

SACRAMENTO, Calif.-Thursday, Southern Utah men’s basketball seeks to continue in their recent hot streak as they visit Sacramento State Thursday and Portland State Saturday.

The 12-10 (7-6 in Big Sky Conference play) Thunderbirds have won three straight games and seem well on their way to finishing above .500 for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Presently, the Thunderbirds score 77 points per game while surrendering 76 points per contest.

Redshirt junior guard/forward Cameron Oluyitan (13.1 points per game) and senior guard Brandon Better (12.6 points per game) are the Thunderbirds’ leading scorers on the season.

Redshirt sophomore forward Andre Adams (10.9 points, 6.4 rebounds per game) has also been coming on of late for the Thunderbirds.

The Hornets come into Thursday’s game at 10-11 and 4-8 in Big Sky play.

Sacramento State scores 70.5 points per game and surrenders 69.6 points per contest.

Senior guard Marcus Graves is the Hornets’ leading scorer (16 points, 4.7 rebounds per game) while junior forward Joshua Patton (13.3 points, 5.5 rebounds per contest) has also been solid for Sacramento State.

Headed into Thursday’s home game against Northern Arizona prior to hosting the Thunderbirds Saturday, Portland State is 9-14 and 3-8 in Big Sky play.

The Vikings, coached by former SUU standout Barret Peery, score 76.6 points per game while surrendering 75.1 points per contest.

Portland State’s statistical leaders, headed into Thursday’s game, are sophomore guard Holland Woods (14.3 points per game) and junior guard Michael Nuga (10.6 points per game).
