SUU Men’s Basketball Commences Big Sky Season By Hosting Montana Schools

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Saturday and Monday, Southern Utah men’s basketball commences the Big Sky Conference portion of their schedule by hosting Montana and Montana State at the America First Event Center.

The Thunderbirds enter the game against Montana State Saturday with a 5-4 record. This is the second consecutive season Southern Utah has entered the conference season with an above .500 record, commemorating the first time this has happened in the school’s Division I history.

The Thunderbirds are currently averaging 79.5 points per game and surrendering 74.5 points per contest.

Senior forward Dwayne Morgan averages a team-best 13 points per game with redshirt junior guard/forward Cameron Oluyitan posting 12.9 points per game for Southern Utah.

The Bobcats come into Saturday’s tilt at Cedar City sporting a record of 3-7. Montana State’s leading scorer is senior guard Tyler Hall, who averages 19.7 points per contest.

As the Thunderbirds host Montana Monday, the Grizzlies come in with a 7-4 record. The Grizzlies score 72.1 points per game and surrender 67.6 points per contest.

The Grizzlies are a guard-oriented offense as redshirt senior guard Ahmaad Rorie (14.9 points per game) and senior guard Michael Oguine (14.3 points per game) are the leading scorers for Montana.
