SUU Football Seeks First Win of the Season At Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz.-Saturday, Southern Utah football seeks its first win of the season as they travel to the Sonoran Desert to battle the Pac-12’s Arizona Wildcats.

This game will be the Thunderbirds’ last foray into non-conference play as they will commence the Big Sky season September 22 at Northern Arizona.

Among the bright spots this season for the Thunderbirds is quarterback Chris Helbig who has thrown for 656 yards and four touchdowns thus far, with no interceptions, in losses to North Alabama and Oregon State.

Helbig has also run for 68 yards and a pair of scores for Southern Utah thus far.

Senior receiver Ty Rutledge has also excelled for the Thunderbirds as he has 12 grabs for 211 yards (105.5 yards a game) and a touchdown.

Defensively, cornerback Taelin Webb has posted five pass breakups and a tackle for a loss for the Thunderbirds.

Arizona also seeks its first win of the season in this match-up at Arizona Stadium as the Wildcats have suffered losses to Brigham Young and Houston to commence the era of head coach Kevin Sumlin.

This is also the first match-up in history between the Thunderbirds and the Wildcats.
