Several Utah Football Stars on Preseason Watch Lists

SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, several University of Utah football stars were selected for preseason award watch lists.

Among those to receive recognition thus far are junior tailback Zack Moss for the Maxwell Award, annually given to “America’s college player of the year.” In two seasons with the Utes thus far, Moss has run for 1,555 yards and 12 touchdowns and has 1,802 scrimmage yards overall.

Additionally, junior cornerback Julian Blackmon and junior defensive end Bradlee Anae have been named to the Bednarik Award watch list, annually given to the college defensive player of the year. In his career with the Utes thus far, Blackmon has four interceptions and 39 solo tackles. Anae has posted 9 sacks and 12 tackles for a loss for the Utes and two fumble returns  in his career at Salt Lake City.

Finally, senior linebacker Chase Hansen has been named to the watch list for the Lott Impact Trophy. This award is given to “college football’s defensive best in character and performance” and is named after former USC and NFL star safety Ronnie Lott.

In his collegiate career thus far, Hansen has amassed 93 solo tackles, 10.5 sacks for a loss, 2 sacks and 4 interceptions.
