Prep Track & Field Roundup: 4-14

FILLMORE, Utah-Saturday, numerous track and field teams representing Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network schools competed at the Old Capital Invitational Saturday at Millard High School.

The Millard boys decisively won the title, amassing 128 points, with Milford coming in second place with 78.5 points. North Sanpete’s boys placed fourth with 50 points, while Delta was fifth with 45.5 points and Beaver placed sixth with 39 points, tied with Rich and Rowland Hall.

For the girls, North Sevier’s girls won with 97 points, easily besting second-place Millard, who posted 79 points. Delta finished fourth with 55 points and North Sanpet was fifth with 36 points, while Wasatch Academy finished sixth with 32 points.

The boys’ 100-meter dash saw Millard’s Turner Koyle place second in a time of 11.37 seconds, while Parker Hightower of North Sanpete finished third, Bryce Valley’s Austyn Brinkerhoff placed fifth and Riley Ogden of North Sevier placed sixth overall.

The girls’ 100-meter dash crown was won by North Sanpete’s Isabelle Hightower in 12.94 seconds with Delta’s Jordyn Nielson and Dani Nielson finishing second and third, respectively. Passion Reitz of Richfield finished fourth, while Delta’s Megan Atkinson was fifth and Mickell Morgan of Piute finished sixth.

Turner Koyle did earn a title in the boys’ 200-meter dash, in a time of 23.28 seconds, edging Milford’s Brett Beebe for the title, who ran it in 23.89 seconds. Conner Peterson of South Sevier finished third overall, while his teammate, Tyson Chisholm placed fifth. Beaver’s Kaleb Barney placed sxith overall in the event.

The girls’ 200-meter dash champion was Gunnison’s Jade Wimmer in 26.43 seconds, while Jordyn Nielson and Dani Nielson of Delta placed second and third, respectively. Passion Reitz of Richfield placed fourth and Piute’s Emily Morgan finished sixth overall.

In the boys’ 400-meter dash, Turner Koyle finished second once again, with his teammate, Nathan Despain, finishing third. Brayden Butler of Wasatch Academy placed fifth and Beaver’s Jaden Fails finished sixth.

Gunnison’s Jade Wimmer also won the girls’ 400-meter dash, in a time of 59.61 seconds, with Passion Reitz of Richfield finishing second. Audrey Camp of Millard placed third, North Sanpete’s Linzy Flinders finished fourth and Vanessa Delgado of Piute placed sixth overall.

In the boys’ 800-meter dash, Millard’s Jayce Thompson placed third overall, with his teammae, Kael Myers, finishing fifth and Caysen Crum of Beaver placed sixth.

The girls’ 800-meter dash saw Sheilah Cheruiyot of Wasatch Academy place second, while her teammates, Ashley Lagat and Purity Kattam, placed third and sixth, respectively.

In the boys’ 1600-meter run, Millard’s Shane Woodard finished third, with Easton Syrett of Bryce Valley placing fifth.

In the girls’ 1600-meter run, Wasath Academy’s Sheilah Cheruiyot of Wasatch Academy again finishing second, while Ashley Lagat again placed third for the Tigers.

In the boys’ 3200-meter run, Beaver’s Caysen Crum placed third, with Ruger Reeve of Valley placing fourth and North Sevier’s Kelby Bosh finishing sixth.

The girls’ 3200-meter run champion was Millard’s Audrey Camp in a time of 12:09.14, while Beaver’s Sophia Almeida placed fifth.

North Sevier’s Mayci Torgerson again had a successful meet, winning the girls’ 100-meter hurdles crown (17.16 seconds), the 300-meter hurdles title (47.24 seconds) and the long jump title (15.08-50).

In the boys’ 110-meter hurdles, South Sevier’s Jacob Taylor placed second, while Dayne Stewart and Carson Fox of Millard placed third and fifth, respectively. North Sevier’s Colt Ekker placed sixth overall.

The boys’ 300-meter hurdles champion was Carson Fox in a time of 45.39 seconds, edging North Sanpete’s Brage Anderson (45.97 seconds) in a thrilling finish. Tilden Kesler of Millard placed third in the event, while Jacob Taylor of South Sevier finished fourth, Gunnison’s Garrett Francis placed fifth and Dayne Stewart of Millard finished sixth overall.

Beaver’s Cole Marshall won the boys’ long jump title with a leap of 20.00.50 feet, while North Sevier’s Landan Gale was third, Jaxon Wardle of Millard placed fourth, Millard’s Shane Woodard finished fifth and Austyn Brinkerhoff of Bryce Valley placed sixth.

In the boys’ high jump, North Sevier’s Hunter Higgs finished second, with Duncan Herbst of Millard placing third and Jamal Mayoul of North Sanpete finished fifth.

In the girls’ high jump, Delta’s Jordyn Nielson won the crown with a leap of 5 feet 1 inch and Millard’s Payton Miller finished second. Bryce Valley’s Maycee Brinkerhoff placed third, Abbey Bastian of South Sevier was fourth and Millard’s Kobree Penney placed sixth.

Jaxon Wardle won the boys’ javelin title with a toss of 148-08.50 feet with Easton Syrett of Bryce Valley placing second. Delta’s Chase Fowles was fourth, with Tyler Griffiths of Beaver finishing fifth and Duncan Herbst of Millard placed sixth.

Isabel George of Millard placed first in the girls’ javelin with a toss of 113-10 feet. North Sevier’s Kenzie Mason finished second and Linley White of Beaver finished third. Brinley Mason of North Sevier was fifth and her teammate, McCadey Goble finished sixth.

Delta’s Chase Fowles won the boys’ shot put crown with Brett Roundy placing second and their teammate Brandon Aktinson finishing fourth. Jaxon Wardle of Millard placed sixth overall in the event.

Kenzie Mason of North Sevier won the girls’ shot put title with a toss of 33-02.50 feet. Bobbie Griffin of Escalante placed second while Brinley Mason of North Sevier finished third, Leah Torgersen of South Sevier finished fifth and Piute’s Emri Roberts finished sixth.

Chase Fowles placed second in the boys’ discus, while Beaver’s Josh Wood placed third and Brett Roundy of Delta was fourth.

Emma Thurman of Millard won the girls’ discus crown with a toss of 102-09 feet with Kenzie Mason of  North Sevier finishing third. Brinley Mason of North Sevier placed fifth and Delta’s Paityn Callister finished sixth overall.

The boys’ 4 x 100 relay title was won by Millard in a time of 45.73 seconds. The team consisted of Nathan Despain, Turner Koyle, Jaxon Wardle and Sam Marshall. North Sanpete placed second, while North Sevier finished fourth.

The girls’ 4 x 100 relay title was taken by Delta as the Rabbits rain it in a time of 52.92 seconds. The team consisted of Ashlee Nielson, Bridgette Christensen, Dani Nielson and Jordyn Nielson. North Sanpete finished second, North Sevier placed third and Millard finished fourth.

In the boys’ 4 x 400 relay, North Sanpete placed second, with Bryce Valley finishing fourth, North Sevier in fifth and Millard in sixth.

North Sevier’s girls won the 4 x 400 relay title in a time of 4:27 with this team consisting of Karlee Bennett, McCadey Goble, Tyesha Christensen and Mayci Torgerson. Bryce Valley placed fourth and Millard, fifth overall, in the event.

North Sanpete’s boys won the medley title in a time of 3:52.07 as the team consisted of Parker Hightower, Karson Parish, Wyatt Roberts and Skyler Mortenson. North Sevier placed third overall.

The North Sanpete girls also won the medley title, in a time of 4:45.20. The Hawks’ team consisted of Isabelle Hightower, Hannah Snow, Aspen Clayton and Linzy Flinders. Millard placed third overall.

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Saturday, as the Desert Hills Invitational ensued, Panguitch carried the banner for Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network schools at the event, with the Bobcat girls placing fifth overall in the standings.

The girls’ champion was the Cedar Lady Reds with 152 points with the Bobcats placing 37 0verall.

The boys’ champion was Desert Hills, finishing wih 137 points, easily blowing away second-place Westlake, who finished with 83.5 points.

For the girls’ Kapri Orton was stellar for Panguitch, winning the girls’ high jump title with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches. She also placed fourth in the 100-and 300-meter hurdles, respectively. Kanab’s Carsyn Button also showed well, finishing sixth overall in the girls’ 100-meter dash.

Delta’s Dallin Draper was also a star, winning the boys’ 100-meter dash in a time of 10.87 seconds.

In the boys’ 4 x 100 relay, Kanab placed third in 49.06 seconds, with Wayne finishing fourth and Panguitch placing fifth.

Madison Norris of Manti placed sixth in the girls’ 400-meter dash in an impressive showing well.

The Panguitch boys placed sixth in the 4 x 400 relay and Mataya Barney of Panguitch placed third in the girls’ javelin with a toss of 103-06. Taylia Norris of Panguitch placed sixth in the girls’ discus.

In the boys’ high jump, Delta’s Trey Brough placed third and Jaymen Brough finished fifth in the event.

Meanwhile, Panguitch’s Bryson Marshall finished fourth in the boys’ discus and Wayne’s Wyatt Van Orden finished fifth in the boys’ long jump.
