Football

2-A Playoffs

FILLMORE, Utah-Austin Burratson amassed 187 yards on 20 touches from scrimmage, including a pair of rushing scores as the Millard Eagles pounded North Sevier 38-7 in the first round of the 2-A playoffs Thursday. Brooks Myers added a 52-yard touchdown run for the Eagles and ran for 92 yards overall on the evening and two scores. The Eagles ran for 313 yards on 44 carries, or 7.11 yards per run in the win.

In defeat, Marshall Okerlund completed 22 of 42 passes for 179 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions. The Wolves also received strong showings for Kody Christensen (7 rec, 70 yards, TD) and Gabe Wilcox (23 touches, 82 scrimmage yards).

Defensively, Wyatt Alcala, Austin Burratson and Sam Marshall all had interceptions for the Eagles. Riley Ogden had an interception in defeat for the Wolves on defense. Alcala also added a 23-yard field goal for good measure for Millard.

Millard next faces San Juan presumably Friday October 26 at 4:00 pm at Blanding, Utah in the 2-A state quarterfinals as the Eagles improve to 8-2 on the season. North Sevier’s 2018 campaign ends with a 4-6 record.

SPANISH FORK, Utah-Unofficially, Tyson Chisholm ran for 424 yards, the fifth-most in Utah high school football state history, as well as five touchdowns and the South Sevier Rams pounded American Leadership 55-24 Thursday in 2-A football playoffs action. The Rams next face 2-A South region foe Grand in the quarterfinals at Moab next week.

ENTERPRISE, Utah-Tyler Hiatt threw two touchdown passes and Ryan Holt ran for a pair of scores as the Enterprise Wolves routed Gunnison 46-14 in 2-A football playoffs action Thursday. Kolton Peterson had a 2-yard touchdown run and Creed Mogle hauled in a 56-yard touchdown pass from Caden Madsen in the loss for the Bulldogs. Enterprise next draws South Summit in the 2-A state quarterfinals next week at Kamas.

3-A Playoffs

PRICE, Utah-Emmitt Hafen’s three touchdown passes and two touchdown runs lifted the Richfield Wildcats to a 45-15 rout of Carbon Thursday in the first round of the 3-A football playoffs. Brittyn Riddle added a 62-yard touchdown run in the win for the Wildcats. Richfield next draws Summit Academy next week in the 3-A quarterfinals.

ROOSEVELT, Utah-In double overtime, Mason Eldredge had a 4-yard touchdown run and on the subsequent 2-point conversion attempt, Nate Foote hit Easton Rohrer for the game-winning score as the Union Cougars outlasted Manti 15-14 in the first round of the 3-A football playoffs Thursday. In the loss for the Templars, Kyle King threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Travis Thomson and Dallin Rasmussen had an 11-yard touchdown run. Union next faces North Sanpete at Mt. Pleasant next week in the 3-A quarterfinals.

1-A South

MONTICELLO, Utah-Weston Nebeker had touchdown runs of 80, 95 and 5 yards as the Monticello Buckaroos overpowered Kanab 33-21 in 1-A South football action Thursday. Marcus Fox had a 15-yard touchdown pass to Sean Grey and Kyle and Karson Blomquist each ran for scores in the loss for the Cowboys.

PAROWAN, Utah-Bryson Barnes threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score as the Milford Tigers smacked Parowan 33-21 Thursday in 1-A South football action.

Volleyball

Region 18

SALINA, Utah-The North Sevier Wolves came through with a clutch 15-11 win in the fifth set to outlast Gunnison 3-2 in Region 18 volleyball action Thursday. The Wolves also won 26-24 and 26-24 in the second and third sets. The Bulldogs won 25-21 and 25-15 in the first and fourth sets, respectively.
