NCAA Golf Utah Roundup: 5/9

AUSTIN, Texas-While the BYU women’s golf team, because of their 9th place overall finish, did not advance past the Austin regional after Wednesday competition, Rose Huang was able to individually excel and represent the Cougars at the NCAA Tournament.

Huang placed fourth overall in the standings at 212 -4 to make the cut for the May 18-23 championships at Stillwater, Okla.

The overall individual winner was Texas A&M’s Maddie Szeryk who posted a 209 -7.

Arkansas was the team winner at this region, living up to their #1 seed as the Razorbacks posted a collective score of 838 -26.

AMARILLO, Texas-Wednesday, the Dixie State men’s golf’s team had its season come to an end as they placed 16th overall out of 20 teams at the NCAA South/West Division II Super Regional.

The Trail Blazers posted a collective 895 +43 and were led by Dalton Stanger who tied for 26th at 220 +7.

The team victory at this regional was won by St. Mary (Texas) as the Rattlers posted an 861 +9 while Rattler star Emilio Gonzalez posted a 208 -5 to tie for the win with George Markham of the Colorado School of Mines. Also, at Durango, Colo., Dixie State women’s star Katie Ford finished 21st overall at the Hillcrest Golf Club in the NCAA Division II women’s super regional. Ford shot a 232 +16 overall at this tournament.
