NCAA Golf Roundup: Various Utah Schools Compete At Day 2 of Miranda Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Sunday, competition concluded at the Gene Miranda men’s golf invitational hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy at Eisenhower Golf Course. Weber State’s men were the highest-finishing Utah-based squad, finishing eighth overall with Colorado earning the team title with 855 points, edging second-place Wyoming, as the Cowboys posted 860 points.

The individual winner was Colorado’s Daniel O’Loughlin who finished -7 overall. The highest individual finisher from a Utah-based school was Weber State’s Reese Fisher, who finished tied for 9th overall and had an overall score of -3.

Utah State’s Colten Cordingley also placed highly, finishing 12th overall and Southern Utah’s Jake Vincent was among the competitors tying him for 12th, as they each posted -2 scores.

In the overall team standings, Utah State finished 10th, Utah Valley was 11th and Southern Utah placed 14th.

INDEPENDENCE, Minn.-Sunday, the University of Utah’s men’s golf squad commenced its fall season by competing at the Gopher Invitational at the Windsong Farm Golf Club of Independence, Minn. hosted by the University of Minnesota.

The Utes are currently in 12th place at +20 during the tournament, which concludes Monday, in a 15-team field. Oklahoma and Texas are currently tied for the overall lead at +1.

Utah’s current individual leader is freshman Axel Einarsson of Ludvika, Sweden, who is tied for 22nd place at +3.  Arkansas’ William Buhl is the current individual leader at -6.

Additionally, senior Kyler Dunkle of Larkspur, Colo. is tied for 31st for Utah at +5.

A trio of Utes are tied for 46th place, sophomore Blake Tomlinson of Salt Lake City’s Skyline High School, sophomore Tristan Mandur of Mill Bay, British Columbia, Canada and junior Jordan Costello of Pinedale, Wyo. They are all shooting +7.
