NEW YORK-Friday, BYU football announced the addition of tight end Matt Bushman to the John Mackey Award preseason watch list.
This award is annually given to the most outstanding tight end in FBS college football.
Bushman, entering his sophomore season, led all FBS freshman tight ends with 49 grabs and 520 yards.
In so doing, he earned freshman All-American accolades from USA Today Sports, the Football Writers Association of America and 247Sports.
Former BYU All-American and later Baltimore Ravens star tight end Dennis Pitta was a finalist for this award in 2009.
