It’s All Greek to USU Women’s Basketball Monday

LOGAN, Utah-Monday, Utah State women’s basketball head coach Jerry Finkbeiner announced an incoming Greek export to his program.

The Aggies have signed 6’2″ forward Roxani Bountouka, a forward out of Thessaloniki, Greece, where she currently attends the Hellenic College of Thessaloniki.

She commenced her playing career with E.O. Stavroupoli from 2007-2014, but is currently playing for the women’s basketball club of Aris Thessaloniki.

The past three summers, Bountouka has spent her time practicing with the Greek National Team as well.

Bountouka has proven to be a key contributor to her squad as they have finished in the top two the past two seasons at the Thessaloniki championships.

Last season, she averaged 8.9 points and 9 rebounds while averaging 25 minutes per game.

Finkbeiner is especially impressed with Bountouka’s size, saying “At 6-foot-2, [Roxani] is athletic and runs the floor well for her position.”

Bountouka has become the fourth member of this upcoming class for the Aggies. Previously, Utah State signed Cotonou, Benin native Marlene Aniambossou, Emma Dudley of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and Australian national Steph Gorman, a native of Wodonga, Victoria, Australia.
