FARMINGTON, Utah-Friday, Utah State standout golfer Andy Hess’ run at the Utah State Amateur ended at the Oakridge Country Club of Farmington, Utah.
Hess, as the #31 seed, fell to prodigious teenage talent, #23 Preston Summerhays 3 and 1.
Summerhays was 3-up after the first four holes, but Hess battled back to even things up at the 10th hole.
Summerhays responded with key victories at the 11th, 13th and 17th holes and is currently competing in the Saturday semifinals against Kyler Dunkle as he also upset #3 seed Jayce Frampton as Friday play ensued.
