Harlee Willoughby Among USU-Eastern Athletes To Earn NJCAA All-Academic Honors

PRICE, Utah-Delta High product Harlee Willoughby is among 29 USU-Eastern Utah athletes to receive all-NJCAA academic honors during the 2017-18 athletic year as confirmed Wednesday.

Willoughby, a standout women’s basketball player for the Golden Eagles was among three athletes on campus to net a 4.0 GPA. The others were here teammate, Cadee Berrett of Idaho Falls, Idaho and women’s volleyball player Mekenzie Miller of Boise, Idaho.

Thirteen Golden Eagles received second-team honors for having a GPA between 3.80-3.99. These included softball player Alexandra Burrola of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, women’s soccer player Anna Towne of Garland, Utah, women’s soccer player McKenna Wiscombe of Orem, Utah, men’s soccer player Garrett Boston of Layton, Utah, men’s basketball players Rafael Monteiro of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Milan Surlic of Nis, Serbia and Kristupas Totoris of Vilnius, Lithuania, women’s basketball players Kaitlin Toluono of Taylorsville, Utah and Autumn Kay of Mona, Utah, a former Juab High star. Additionally receiving second-team honors were women’s volleyball players Jaelyn Olsen of Tucson, Ariz., Haley Cloward of Salem, Utah and Brooke Anderson of Bluffdale, Utah and baseball player Jarrett Hunt of Hyrum, Utah.

Thirteen other Golden Eagles athletes became third-team All-NJCAA academic selections, including women’s basketball players Blanca Casamort Vila of Girona, Spain, Madison Loftus of South Jordan, Utah and former Delta High standout Sidney Springer, who also played for the USU-Eastern Utah volleyball team.

Rounding out the third-team selections were volleyball player Kynsee Mussman of Murtaugh, Idaho, women’s soccer players Shyann Jones of Hooper, Utah, Rachel Neff of Henderson, Nev., Kiara Maryott of Provo, Utah, Gabrielle Sainsbury of West Valley City, Utah, men’s basketball players Nicolas Schapochnik of Brazil and Carson Bishoff of North Ogden, Utah, men’s soccer players Kelshall Alexander Jr. of Arouca, Trinibad and Tobago and Kaina Elias and baseball player Jesse Rowley of Salem, Utah.

NJCAA team academic awards will be announced later this summer.
