Dixie State Men’s Basketball Hosts Thanksgiving Classic

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Friday, Dixie State men’s basketball hosts the 2018 Dixie State/Red Lion Hotels Thanksgiving Classic at the Burns Arena.

They will draw both the Academy of Art Urban Knights and the Western Oregon Wolves on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Also, Dixie State’s Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rival, Westminster, will be participating.

As the Trailblazers face the Urban Knights, they will seek to ensue in their mastery of them as they are 16-0 all-time in the series.

A win against the Wolves would tie the all-time series 3-3 for Dixie State.

The Trailblazers are still seeking their first win of the new season as they fell 72-66 to Cal Poly Pomona last Saturday as well as dropping an 88-70 exhibition match-up to Utah Valley at Orem October 30.

Presently, the Trailblazers are led by junior forward Matt Conway, a 6-7 graduate of Pleasant Grove High School, who posted 22 points in last Saturday’s loss to the Broncos.

The Academy of Art comes into this tournament sporting a record of 0-3 and the Urban Knights are led by Serbian national, sophomore guard Stefan Milivojevic, who averages 12.7 points per game on the young season.

The Wolves come into this tournament at 2-0 and are paced by sophomore guard Darius Lubom, who averages 22 points per game. The native of Kent, Wash. also gives the Wolves 4.5 rebounds per contest.
