Dixie State Football Routs Fort Lewis 31-3 In Home Opener

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Easton Smith completed 11 of 17 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown as the Dixie State Trailblazers routed Fort Lewis 31-3 Saturday evening at Trailblazer Stadium in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference football action.

Before a crowd of 5,498, the Trailblazers out-gained the Skyhawks of Durango, Colo. 475-164 and built a 17-3 lead en route to the easy victory, their first win of the young season.

Lawrence Starks (13 car, 99 yards, TD) and Isaiah Wooden (1 car 59 yards, TD) also ran for scores for the Trailblazers.

Xavier Smith (4 rec, 77 yards, TD) added a 51-yard scoring reception from Smith which proved to represent the final margin of victory for Dixie State.

The Trailblazers commenced a 3-game homestand with the win Saturday evening and will next face another fellow RMAC opponent in the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys September 15.
