WALNUT, Calif.-Saturday as the Mt. Sac Relays concluded, several Utah-based collegiate stars excelled at this prestigious event. In the women’s discus, Brigham Young’s Leah Thompson finished fifth overall with a toss of 155-07 feet.

Her teammate, Kassie Nagel, placed sixth in the women’s shot put with a toss of 45-10.75 feet. Most of the Utah-based track and field athletes were at the Long Beach Invitational Saturday.

LONG BEACH, Calif.-Saturday, with the exception of a few BYU track and field athletes at the Mt. Sac Relays, the majority of Utah-based collegiate track and field stars were at the Beach Invitational Saturday at Long Beach State University.

Utah State’s Dillon Maggard was among the aforementioend stars as he won the men’s 1500-meter run in a time of 3:45.26 with his teammate, Jordan Beutler, placing fifth at 3:48.02.

In the women’s 400-meter hurdles, Utah Valley’s Lexi Shaw placed sixth overall in a time of 59.91 seconds.

The Utah women placed third in the 4 x 400 relay with a team consisting of Alissa Atisme, Grace Englund, Jackie Martin and Caitie Faust.

In the women’s p0le vault, BYU’s Sierra Hansen tied for sixth place with a leap of 13-03.50 feet.

The men’s long jump saw Utah Valley’s Albert MacArthur place seventh with a leap of 24-07-00 feet.

In the men’s shot put, BYU’s Jefferson Jarvis finished sixth with a toss of 59-10.50 feet.

In the women’s shot put, Brenn Flint and Olivia Moriconi of Utah State finished third and fourth, respectively.
