BYU Swimming/Diving Practices In New Facility

PROVO, Utah-Monday, BYU’s men and women’s swim/dive teams practiced at their new Richards Building practice pool for the first time.

Head coach John Brooks confirmed he’s excited at the restoration of the facility as the Cougars have been forced to train at a wide variety of locations, including the University of California, the University of Utah, the Orem RecCenter and Puerto Rico.

The facility now consists of a pool that can be used for eighteen 25-yard lanes, or eight 40-meter lanes, with Omega back fin blocks.

The swimmers now also have access to to a lap pool consisting of six lanes and 25 yards.

Divers now have 1 and 3-meter boards and stands as well as 3 and 5-meter platforms.

Other features include a bubbler system, spotting harness and showers on deck.

Additionally, there are now new videoboards, a new dry-land training room, all new HVAC, a lighting and sound system and increased seating on the east side of the pool.

Coaches now have new offices located next to the facility allowing deck access.
