BYU Men’s Basketball Faces Weber State Saturday

PROVO, Utah-Saturday, after a disappointing 92-89 loss to Illinois State, the BYU men’s basketball team returns to action at the Dee Events Center against Weber State in a non-conference match-up.

The Cougars lead the all-time series against the Wildcats 33-10 and come into Saturday’s in-state tilt with a record of 5-3.

In the loss to the Redbirds, Yoeli Childs netted 27 points and 16 rebounds. This was his sixth double-double of the season and the 26th of his career.

He also tied a career-best mark with three 3-pointers at Normal, Ill. Wednesday.  Childs averages a team-best 20.9 points and 12.5 rebounds on the season for the Cougars.

The Cougars have never lost to Weber State in the Dave Rose era, sporting a record of 13-0 against the Wildcats in his tenure. BYU has won its last 15 games against the Wildcats and lead Weber State 12-8 all-time at Ogden.

Also, TJ Haws scored 22 points at Illinois State, which saw him surpass the 1,000-point threshold for his collegiate career for the Cougars.

BYU averages 82.4 points on the season and gives up 72.4 points per contest through the first eight games.

The Wildcats enter this game at 4-2 and is coming off a 100-61 win over Benedictine (Ariz.) Tuesday.

The high-scoring Wildcats score 86.5 points per game and give up only 69.7 points per contest.

Prolific junior guard Jerrick Harding is shooting 50.9 percent from the field this season and he averages 23.3 points and five rebounds per contest.
