BYU Baseball Commences Season At Mesa, Ariz. against Big Ten Foe Northwestern

MESA, Ariz.-Friday, BYU baseball commences its season by visiting Sloan Park of Mesa, Ariz. to battle the Northwestern Wildcats of the Big Ten Conference.

The Cougars will stay in the East Valley (greater Phoenix area) Monday to battle the California Golden Bears of the Pac-12 Conference at Tempe, Ariz.

The Cougars are led by 7-year head coach Mike Littlewood (179-143; 92-67 in West Coast Conference play) and a pair of star returners on the field.

Senior outfielder Brock Hale (a career .368 batting average) and senior right-handed pitcher Jordan Wood (2.66 ERA; 63 strikeouts last season) are the Cougars’ top returners from last season’s 22-28 squad.

The Cougars draw the Wildcats for the first time since 2003 with Northwestern leading the all-time series 2-0.

The Golden Bears lead the Cougars 12-8 all-time including a 1-0 win over BYU last season at Berkeley, Calif.
