BYU and Arizona Reconvene in Old School Rivalry

PROVO, Utah-Saturday, at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Ariz., BYU and Arizona meet in football for the 24th time in history.

These squads were rivals in the WAC until 1978, when Arizona and Arizona State left for the-then Pac-8 conference, which is the present-day Pac-12.

Since then, this is the fourth time since 2006 that the Cougars and Wildcats have met in the season opener.

The Cougars have won two of the past three games in the series, with the Wildcats leading 12-10-1 all-time.

BYU is 5-8-1 all-time in Tucson, with the first game in this series occurring in 1936.

The Cougars may have caught a break as the high temperature in Tucson is a below-average 97 degrees Saturday.

Preliminary reports from the Weather Channel suggest a 50 percent chance of rain late in the evening. This could possibly result in delays if thunder and lightning accompany any moisture that should come so this bears watching throughout the week.
