A Pair of Utah Football Stars Honored By the Pac-12 Monday

SALT LAKE CITY-After Saturday’s 40-21 win over Stanford, a pair of Utah Utes football standouts were honored by the Pac-12 Monday.

Kicker Matt Gay, who scored 16 points by making all five of his PAT’s and four field goal attempts, and defensive back Jaylon Johnson, who returned an interception 100 yards for another score, were honored as the special teams and defensive players of the week, respectively.

Gay now leads the Pac-12 in kick-scoring points per game at 7.8 and field goals per game at 1.60.

Johnson is only the third player in school history to return an interception 100 yards for a score and it is the longest such play in college football this season.
