Zion National Park Scenic Drive Closed Indefinitely After Rock Slide

ZION NATIONAL PARK, Utah (AP)-A rock slide in Zion National Park occurring late Friday evening has indefinitely closed a scenic drive in the park.

This was first reported by KUTV-Channel 2 of Salt Lake City and caused the closure of two miles of the scenic drive just north of Zion Lodge.

Park officials say this stretch of the drive will be closed until further notice.

Officials stated the slide consists of 200 tons of massive boulders and debris stretching about four car lengths.

KUTV reports emergency crews used a shuttle to transport stranded motorists out of the park Friday evening.

Other landslides have caused the closure of a pair of other trails in the park.
