Three sent to hospital after hitting power box in Richfield

Three people are recovering after a car accident on Thursday in Richfield caused a brief power outage.

According to Jason Haywood with Richfield City Police, the three were going East on 1330 South around 6:20 p.m. They crossed 100 East, drove into a field and then into a power box.

The driver and front seat passenger were not wearing seatbelts. They were sent to the hospital with injuries. The backseat passenger was also sent to the hospital as a precaution.

Haywood says they believe the driver was having a medical emergency before the crash.

Rocky Mountain Power responded to the outage and restored power after several hours to nearby businesses.
