A man facing over three dozen sex charges turned himself into authorities Friday night.
Law enforcement officers from both the Beaver and Millard County Sheriff offices have been searching for 43-year-old Destry Mel Stewart since he failed to show up for a court appearance on Monday.
According to a release by the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Cameron Noel was told to contact a family member of Stewart. Noel did so by phone at approximately 5:30 PM and was told by the family member they were with Stewart and that he was going to turn himself in.
The release states that Sheriff Noel spoke with Stewart during the phone call and Stewart assured the sheriff he would turn himself in.
Stewart walked into the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 7:30 PM Friday and was taken into custody. He is being held without bail.
Among Stewart’s 39 charges are rape and unlawful sexual contact with a minor. Investigators also believe he violated a no-contact order with one of the victims.
