Storm warnings, advisories blanket much of Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Winter storm warnings and advisories blanket much of Utah and hazardous travel conditions are reported across much of the state.

The Utah High Patrol says northbound Interstate 15 was closed early Tuesday morning near Cedar City and troopers reported that 15 tractor-trailer were blocking traffic after spinning out of control due to traveling too fast for conditions.

The National Weather Service says total snow accumulations of up to 6 inches (15 centimeters) are expected in Salt Lake City, Ogden and Provo. Cedar City is expected to get up to 4 inches (10 centimeters) of new snow.

Heavy snow is expected in the Wasatch Mountains south of Interstate 80 and in the western Uinta Mountains and on the Wasatch Plateau, with expected new accumulations of up to 18 inches (46 centimeters).
