Stolen car spiked, stopped in Sevier County after chase

A man in Sevier County is now in jail after a short police chase Monday morning.

According to Richfield City Police Chief Trent Lloyd, 25-year-old Jesse Allen from Colorado stole an idling car in Salina around 9:06 a.m.

A Richfield Police officer waited to see if Allen would come past Richfield on I-70, and when he did, he started to chase him.

Allen didn’t stop or pull over though, so UHP layed down spike strips near Elsinore and those flattened his right side tires.

Allen was arrested just 26 minutes after the car was stolen. He’s facing theft and driving on a suspension charges.

Lloyd says he’s grateful the incident was resolved smoothly and without any injuries.

Westbound I-70 was closed for a few minutes during the arrest.
