Skull found in backyard nearly 30 years after disappearance

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say a human skull has been found at the former home of a woman who disappeared nearly 30 years ago.
Spanish Fork police said Monday that the remains were buried under a cellar in the backyard where Peggy Sue Case once lived. She was reported missing by co-workers in July 1988.
The skull was about 18 inches underground, wrapped in a blanket and plastic mesh. The current residents started digging after noticing part of the dirt floor was sinking.
Police are now working to identify the remains.
Investigators say a man who lived with Case was a person of interest in her disappearance, but it’s not clear where he is now.
Investigators say that police dug through the soil in the cellar shortly after her disappearance, but didn’t find any evidence.
