Road To Jacob Lake To Reopen

KAIBAB NATIONAL FOREST, Ariz.-(ADOT)-Per the official Twitter of the Arizona Department of Transportation, Arizona S.R. 67, the route to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is slated to reopen Tuesday. This route connects at U.S. 89-A at Jacob Lake en route to the North Rim and opens up complete access to Grand Canyon National Park.

After the North Rim’s facilities close each winter, this 43-mile stretch of highway is not plowed by ADOT and reopens each spring along with park facilities, usually on May 15 as is the case this year.

Arizona S.R. 64, the route to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, is open year-round.

S.R. 67 takes drivers through winding roads and much alpine terrain which is usually above 8,000 feet in elevation and averages nine inches of snow annually. S.R. 67 has been closed since last December 1.
