Retrial begins for Orem man accused of killing wife

PROVO, Utah (AP) — The attorney for an Orem man on trial for a second time on accusations he killed wife says there’s no conclusive evidence to show her client is guilty.
The Daily Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2kmzpNe) that attorney Ann Taliaferro’s comments came during opening arguments Thursday in Provo in the retrial of Conrad Truman.
A judge overturned a previous jury conviction of Truman due to faulty police measurements of the house that he said wrongly undermined the defense theory that Heidy Truman shot herself.
Taliaferro reminded jurors that the state medical examiner changed the cause of death from homicide to undetermined.
Utah County prosecutor Sam Pead said Truman’s behavior and actions the night of her death weren’t consistent with the way a grieving man would act. Pead says Truman was defensive and changed his story changed several times.
