Police: Suspect is arrested in death of a St. George woman

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a suspect has been arrested in the death of a St. George woman last week.

St. George police say 28-year-old Kevin Ray Mcatlin was taken into custody Saturday in the Moab area on suspicion of murder.

They say 33-year-old Elizabeth Carter was found dead in an apartment Wednesday.

Police told the Deseret News that property managers discovered Carter’s body in a bathtub covered by blankets and a couch cushion.

Her body was transported to Salt Lake City for an autopsy and the Office of the Medical Examiner classified the death as a homicide.

Police say investigators discovered a bloody fingerprint on the back side of the apartment’s front door and a Utah crime lab positively matched it Mcatlin.

It was unclear Sunday if Mcatlin has a lawyer yet.
