Parts of Utah could see temps reach 109 amid heat warning

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Parts of Utah have been placed on an excessive heat warning with temperatures expected to approach 109 degrees this week.

The National Weather Service said Monday that an excessive heat warning for Utah’s Dixie and Lake Powell area goes into effect Tuesday to Thursday and Utah could see its hottest temperatures for the year.

Temperatures are expected to hit 103 to 109 (39 to 43 C).

Officials are warning residents to drink plenty of fluids and stay in air-conditioned rooms.
