New Judge Named In Case Of Man Charged With Murdering Young Couple

A new judge has been assigned to the case of a man accused of killing a young couple last year and dumping their bodies down an abandoned mine shaft outside of Eureka.

Attorneys for Jerrod Baum showed that the prior judge had bias and a conflict of interest in the case after he met privately with prosecutors to coordinate a plea agreement from Baum’s girlfriend, Morgan Henderson. She will testify against the suspect at his murder trial in exchange for more lenient sentence for herself.

Baum is accused of murdering Riley Powell and Breezy Otteson. 4th District Court Judge Derek Pullman has been assigned to the case.
