Nevada man drowns at Sand Hollow State Park

A Nevada man is dead after a drowning at the Sand Hollow State Park on Tuesday.

The man, identified as 71-year-old Jimmie Hilton of Las Vegas was stepping from the dock to an awaiting boat when he missed the boat and slipped into the water.

According to Utah State Parks,  Hilton attempted to keep his head above water but was unable to. Bystanders took him from the water and began CPR until medical personel arrived.

Despite their efforts, Hilton was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Parks officials are sending their thoughts to the friends and family of those involved.
