Morgan Henderson attempts to withdraw guilty plea in Sanpete crimes

The woman whose arrest in Sanpete County earlier this year eventually led to the discovery of the bodies of two missing teens tried to withdraw her guilty pleas to weapons and traffic violations in Sixth District Court in Manti.  Morgan Reannion Henderson said she didn’t feel she completely understood what she was doing when she pleaded guilty to five of 11 charges brought about when she was arrested outside Manti on March 25.  That traffic stop and subsequent interviews led to the discovery of the bodies of Riley Powell and Brelynne “Breezy” Ottoson, who allegedly were killed by Henderson’s boyfriend, Jerrod Baum.  Assistant Sanpete County Attorney Wes Mangum argued Henderson made an informed decision, and her request should be denied.  Judge Wallace Lee agreed with Mangum, saying he is very thorough when questioning defendants about their understanding of court proceedings, and he was not convinced that she received confusing information from her attorney.  Sentencing for Henderson was reset for August 1.
