Major drug bust suspect tried to use drug money for bail

A Richfield man already in jail on drug distribution charges is in even more trouble with the law after he tried to use drug money to make bail.

According to the Sevier County Sheriff, Nate Curtis, Jason Saunders called 41-year-old West Fisher to get $65,000 of hidden cash from a hidden spot in his apartment after his arrest on July 3rd.

Saunders was arrested for selling meth and authorities found almost a pound of meth in his apartment at the time of his arrest.

Curtis says they knew he had cash hidden somewhere, but didn’t know where.

After Sauders called his friend,  police watched Fisher enter his apartment and then come out with the money. In all, police found $29,000 in the apartment.

Saunders is facing an additional money laundering charge and West is facing an obstruction of justice charge.

Saunders is still being held in the Sevier County Jail.

Sheriff Curtis says this investigation has been really good work by the detectives and investigators in Sevier County and Richfield City.
