Judge orders trial for man accused of killing woman, her son

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 29-year-old Smithfield man charged with killing his girlfriend and her toddler son and hiding their bodies in 2015 has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated murder, obstruction of justice and abuse or desecration of bodies.

Christopher Poulson entered his pleas Friday after a District Court judge found probable cause to have him stand trial on the charges stemming from the disappearances of 23-year-old Emily Quijano Almiron and 3-year-old son Gabriel Almiron.

They went missing from Orem on Sept. 8, 2015. Their bodies have not been found.

Almiron’s vehicle was found abandoned in St. George.
