Flash Flood Threat Saturday

Flash Flood Threat Saturday

SALT LAKE CITY-Per an official report from the National Weather Service’s Salt Lake City bureau, there is a flash flood warning in effect Saturday in much of the Mid-Utah Radio coverage area.

The increased moisture springs from what was once Hurricane Bud in the Baja California region off the western coast of Mexico and has moved through the U.S. Southwest the past few days.

It should arrive in Utah on Saturday and produce a threat of flash flooding and appears to be flowing eastward, per Phoenix 12 News evening meteorologist Lindsay Riley.

The trajectory substantiates Riley’s words as it appears the areas of Bryce Canyon National Park and Capitol Reef National Park in our coverage area are the most at risk.

A slight chance exists this could hit Manti or Richfield but it seems unlikely that they will be deluged significantly this weekend.

The threat appears likely to extend into Duchesne and Uintah counties in eastern Utah but is not expected to reach Heber City or Park City to the northwest.

Please be cautious in slot canyons, burn scars, normally dry washes and urban areas as these are areas flash floods are likely to occur.
