Fire restrictions put in place on Ferron-Price and Sanpete Ranger Districts

PRICE- The Manti-La Sal National Forest announced that they will begin implementing fire restrictions on the Ferron-Price and Sanpete Ranger Districts due to continued dry and hot weather.

The fire restrictions will go into place on Monday, July 9 and will continue until November 1 or until rescinded.

The restrictions prohibit igniting, building, maintaining or using a fire, including charcoal and briquettes, outside a fire structure provided by the Forest Service within a designated area such as a campground.

People may use a stove or grill that is solely fueled by liquid petroleum fuels.

Smoking outside of an enclosed vehicle or building is also prohibited by the restrictions, unless the smoker is stopped in an area at least 3 feet in diameter that is clear of all flammable materials.

The Forest Service also reminds people that fireworks are always banned, every day, on every National Forest.

These restrictions apply to the entire Ferron-Price and Sanpete districts.

The Moab-Monticello District has prohibited fires including charcoal and briquettes throughout the district. This includes campfires within campgrounds, smoking, using explosives, blasting, welding or operating a torch or any open flame.
