Two fire crews are battling a wildfire in Emery County near the Crandall Canyon Mine, Northwest of Huntington.
Officials with the Forest Service believe the fire was started over a week ago by a warming fire used by people recreating in the area. It wasn’t reported until 2 p.m. Friday.
According to the Forest Service, there is no new green vegetation in the area to slow the burn, so dry grass is carrying the flames. The blaze is edging to the Northeast and up the slope.
Officials hope to have it fully controlled by the end of the week.
As of Monday afternoon, the fire had burned 90 acres.
