Crews expect increased containment of Pole Creek Fire

Crews expect increased containment of Pole Creek Fire

Crews have now gained 23 percent containment on the Pole Creek Canyon as of Tuesday Morning.

At the morning fire meeting, crews said they expect containment to increase Tuesday for both the Pole Creek Fire which has burned 71,873 acres and the Bald Mountain Fire which has burned 14,866 acres. Bald Mountain is still at zero percent containment.

Because of dry conditions and wind from the Southwest, crews expect an active fire behavior day. Winds may shift though and if that happens, it could help the fire burn itself out.

Officials report evacuation orders are unchanged, but they are constantly evaluating evacuation areas.

The Pole Creek fire is on pace to be the second largest in Utah History.

A fire information meeting will be held Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at the Salem Hills High School auditorium.
