Contamination causes closure of Wayne Community Health Center

The Wayne Community Health Center is opening again for normal business on Tuesday after no threat was found following an evacuation Monday.

The Utah National Guard 85th Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team announced the levels of poisonous materials was deemed safe.  They found no threat to the public and no hazardous readings in the building.

Medical staff have also been cleared and are in good health, according to officials.

The victim has been identified as 70-year-old George Coombs of Teasdale, Utah.

The Wayne Community Health Center in Bicknell closed on Monday following an incident with an industrial pesticide material.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports a person came in after coming in contact with the pesticide fumitoxin. They report that person is now deceased.

The medical personnel and the facility were evacuated as a precaution. A small clinic is being set up outside as they work to clear the main office.

This is a breaking story. It will be updated as more information becomes available.
