Coltharps plead guilty to obstruction of justice charges

Two more people have pleaded guilty to charges connected to the Knights of the Crystal Blade religious cult child sex abuse case.

Keith and Catherine Coltharp, parents of cult leader John Coltharp, pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to court records, on or around July 1, 2017, they obstructed law enforcement’s ability to find John and his four children, who had been taken by their father to an undisclosed location in Utah.  The children were finally found in December after an Amber Alert was issued.  The grandparents had Coltharp’s two sons with them in Lund, Utah, and the two girls were found in plastic barrels on the Lund property after spending the 24 hours in freezing temperatures.

As part of their sentences, Keith Coltharp will spend 48 hours in the Sanpete County Jail, and Catherine Coltharp will serve two weeks home confinement.  They will serve 36 months probation and will pay $25,000 restitution to the mother of the children.

Keith Coltharp said in court he is grateful for the opportunity to make restitution to his grandchildren, and Catherine Coltharp said she is sorry the whole thing happened.

One final defendant is due in court next Wednesday.  Robert Roe of California is charged with First Degree felony sodomy on a child and will be back for a scheduling conference on October 24.
