Clean-up starts after flooding in Richfield Saturday

The clean-up process is starting in Richfield after flooding caused headaches for travelers and homeowners Saturday.

According to Sevier County Sheriff, Nate Curtis, a dozen homes were effected by flood waters with half of those receiving some damage.

The flooding spread across I-70 for over an hour and washed out several smaller county roads.

Because the canal bank broke, crews are now working to repair the canal.

There is no estimate yet on the total cost of damage left behind.

Curtis says he’s never seen flooding like this along the freeway.

“We appreciate the public helping out,” Curtis says. “We had a lot of people come out and just offer to help.
