Car drives into Richfield City Pool building

Officials are saying they got lucky after an accident at the Richfield City Pool on Friday.

A 53-year-old man left the pool after feeling sick. He and his son got into their car, when he got dizzy. According to Richfield City Police Chief Trent Lloyd, his car traveled eastbound through a fence, hit a tree, light pole and metal seating before finally hitting the pool building. The front half of his vehicle broke through the building.

Lloyd says the man told officers he didn’t remember what happened.

Lifeguards in the pool could see the car coming and were able to get people out of the way. No one was hit or injured, including the driver and his child in the car.

Lloyd says he’s grateful for the lucky outcome.
